Wrestling fans! We're fresh off the back of CCW Xtravaganza and what an event it was! We had so much incredible action for what was the biggest event of our calendar and continued the tradition of CCW "The BIG One". Llanfairfechan Town Hall just about contained the epic atmoshphere and it was truly electric! And as you no doubt know by now, we have crowned a CCW Welsh Champion after it was vacated. So, great night all round!
Bad night for Dick
Dick Chambers had a night to forget in what was meant to be a statement of his influence and sway in CCW. Instead, if it could go wrong, it did go wrong for 'The Smartest Man In Wrestling Today'. Somehow despite celebrating signing Tony Bond to his client family, he ended up being Superkicked by the Renegade after his incredible match with Jonny Blaze. Are they still working togther? It really didn't seem like it. And what a coup it would have been to sign the legendary Basix Pro Wrestling star!
CCW Chairman Mason Tombs managed to catch Chambers with his patented Space Takedown Ogawa after taking a beating at the hands of Chambers and G-Force. The crowd really seemed to enjoy seeing Tombs finally get his hands on one of the most disliked men in CCW.
And to cap off a night of humiliation, Chambers found himself being ejected from the arena by the referee after one too many interferences.
From a personal point of view, as you'll probably see from my commentary, I absolutely LOVED it!! for how long has Chambers been arrogantly swaggering around hiding behind his clients? Too long! Finally some retribution for him!

Wrestling Talent
CCW Xtravaganza had some truly epic matches. We started the show with the culmination of a grand rivalry, the third match of three; Mr Massive Dan Evans vs Disco Bert Bridge. We at CCW have marveled for the previous year over how good this series has been. Bear in mind, Evans vs Bridge part two was voted our Match of the Year for 2014. That standard was definitely maintained here in a main-event worthy 2 out of three falls match.
It was the Disco Dancing Phenomenon who somehow came back from behind to take the win but this match had everything. I would again encourage you to check out JustDo Wrestling where Evans and Bridge are based for more of their stellar work. Check out Evans' incredible Small Package Suplex and Bridge's moonsault from the top rope. Awesome, awesome match.
Rhys Reflex, despite just about losing his first match in CCW to the Destroyer Keith Mathews at Super 8 2015 was back again, this time with his manager 'Perfectly Sexy' PT Player in tow. The UIWA: UK man Reflex is developing a reputation of being a shark in the squared circle. When he smells blood, he just keeps on attacking. We've noted over his matches how methodical he is, often tactically weakening his opponents legs. That's not something you see a lot of in wrestling these days and for me goes to show what an intellectual wrestler Reflex is. Add to that the fact that he doesn't mind cheating and his manager will gladly interfere, you have a dangerous individual and someone with the potential to go far.
His opponent The Unit is a huge man, often displaying his reserve of power with ease. These two had a top match - two big men knocking lumps out of each other. Reflex took the win in Llanfairfechan and will look to keep building from here.
Charles Kelsey teamed up with the Fantastic Matt Fox against the two goliaths of Ground Zero - Bear and Maximus. We saw Bear take tonnes of damage as Kelsey and Fox effectively cut the ring off. Working wonderfully as a team, they double teamed Bear for long periods of the match and as the match broke down, Fox caught the win after a "shot to the midsection" (that I would question the legality of). Also, was fox the legal man? Controversial finish here that Ground Zero will feel very hard done by.
I've often talked about how good Jonny Blaze and Tony Bond are, they have lit up so many shows in the past and once again they were outstanding here at Xtravaganza. Sometime team mates, and often rivals, Bond came out alongside Dick Chambers - raising eyebrows about his affiliation. The match itself was a breathtaking, nonstop rollercoaster: Blaze again got the crown going wild with his suicide dives through the ropes and bond with his mix of technical and power. The initiative kept changing back and forth but eventually it was Bond who picked up with win after a soul shattering spear. It was after trying to shake Blaze's hand that Chambers and Bond fell out - culminating in a sweet-as-a-nut Superkick that laid Chambers out. Where their working relationship goes from here we will have to wait and see.
Up next was the Ladies Triple Threat match! Dionne Maxim, Lucy Skye and Jami Sparxx went toe-to-toe with each other in this fantastic match. These three are super talented and it showed here as they innovated and fought on the fly. Maxim impressed and took the win here after a genuinely excellent match.

Deep rooted rivalry
If you've followed CCW for any amount of time you will be well aware of the long-brewing rivalry between 'The Man Stronger Than Gravity' G-Force and the 'Funk Soul Brother' Matt Burns. These two have battled many times in the past but literally each encounter is somehow better than the last and once again this was proven to be true. This was such an impressive match. G-Force, under the tutelage of Dick Chambers has come on leaps and bounds and is now one of the most fearsome men in Wrestling.
If you get the chance, please do give this one a watch, it's well worth it, with two talented big men going right at it. Also as I mentioned, Dick Chambers suffered the ignominy of being dismissed by the referee to the locker room while the match continued without his malevolent interference.
With both men able to wrestle without anyone providing an advantage it was Matt Burns who came out on top here, smashing G-Force with a seismic Crossbody splash. I can't wait for when these two next square up!

CCW Welsh Championship - Triple Threat Elimination Match
And so to the main event of the evening. After much chagrin surrounding the title belt in CCW we finally entered a new era. One of three men would be crowned the new CCW Welsh Champion: The Heavy Metal Rock God Big 50, Keith the Destroyer Mathews and the wildcard entry, Mr Williams!
Big 50 we all know about: huge, technically supreme, an unstoppable powerhouse, remorseless and brutal; Mathews, the fan favourite, a CCW Academy graduate and former CCW Super 8 winner; Mr Williams - calculated and intelligent, technically fantastic and ready to do whatever it takes to win.
After much battling, the first to fall and to be eliminated was incredibly Big 50! Mathews caught the fall here and this clearly stoked the hatred within 50. He pulled out a chair from under the ring, cleaned Mathews' clock and sat back to watch Mr Williams become CCW champ. Except The Destroyer kicked out. And kept kicking out as he and Williams exchanged violence in honourable combat. Somehow despite all the odds, and despite taking incredible damage from Mr Williams and Big 50, Mathews caught the Bazinga Bomb and rolled up Mr Williams to become the new CCW Welsh Champion.
If you get the chance, please do watch this match. Fantastic action throughout and a truly meaningful match. In Keith Mathews we have a champion to whom representing CCW means everything, someone who has worked their entire life to become the best and at CCW Xtravaganza, he did it.
To everyone who came, fans and wrestlers alike, thank you so much for joining us for our biggest event of the year! God willing, our best days are ahead of us, so stay with us. Lots of exciting news to come and our next show will be in October. Keep it locked to www.conwycountywrestling.com to stay up to date.
